A bit of head scratching here. Did a search all over, as tin is a hard commodity to find information on. Annual production/consumption hovers around 400,000tpa.
The very high tin prices recently attracted new production from hollow logs all round the world, expansions etc, as happens in free markets and this increased supply, (not greatly increased, but maybe about 6-8%(?) ran into the developing global situation and especially the lockdowns in some the electronics hubs of China (big tin consumers) due to the unique Chairman Xi formula for Covid reaction. (In China, a "degree" in Marxism-Leninism and status in the CCP makes one all-knowing and all wise .
Marginal producers are attracted to high prices and get eliminated when prices dive in the cycle. This is likely beginning to happen, but is unlikely to affect MLX which is pretty much the opposite of marginal now. Tin is getting harder and harder to find, and there are now probes to try to scratch a bit more tin out of one of the world's oldest and longest retired sources, Cornwall in the UK, which is fascinating to me as I am a bit of a history buff for that area. (In ancient times it had as much as 8% tin, the richest anywhere, ever as far as I can determine (It was the main secret source of tin for the bronze age)

I will be interested to see if others can disprove a bit about my prognostication on current action because they might better inform me or show better sources than I know outside of paywalls.

Economics education suggests to me that it looks like a real buying opportunity at this part of the pendulum's cycle. But there is much fear about. Buffets adage is buy when others are afraid. Can MLX go much lower given big cash and imminent commencement of Area 5? I'd reckon not.
