There's an article today on Business Spectator about Google registering as a utility and its testing, among others, of the much-hyped Bloom Box fuel cell units.
"The Bloom Boxes to be unveiled this week are said to cost around $800,000 a unit. Four of them have been used to power a Google data centre for the past 18 months and eBay is reported to have saved $100,000 in energy costs in a single year from using three units."
Doesn't seem like a great return on investment currently, although, like CFU, you would expect the $800k price tag to come down with time.
