    eagle, I see you are still confused with the concept of a primary vote. If I vote for the Sex Party and they in turn preference Labor, I have not voted for Rudd. I voted for the Sex Party. There is a very large difference. What you are suggesting is that if people choose any party, be it Independent or otherwise, they are actually really voting for one of the major parties if their chosen candidate does not win their seat. That is totally incorrect however, I can certainly see where it may have been confusing for you. Due to the Two Party Preferred system it would appear that over 50% of the population would vote for Rudd however factually incorrect that may be.
