The Federal treasurer tells us that there is $50Billion in additional, yes additional revenue (tax) from mining, oil and gas companies. Woodside (including BHP oil and gas) will be one of the large contributors to this balance. Yes, great news for the government. Also significant for the self interested among us shareholders. The resulting franking credits on Woodside books will more than cover the most optimistic dividend projections. The franking credit balance over and above that which can be paid out with dividends will continue to grow over the next few years at least IMO.
Capital management and share buybacks including a franking credit component are looking likely over the next few years. Much more attractive for many of us and some funds than on market sales. All in my opinion. DYOR
