re: truth and the big lie-oil as an example polyethylene resin has gone from $1.40 to $2.40 per kg in the last 3 months. its the primary raw material in many plastics or films. manufacturers work on such low margins that a price rise like that cannot be absorbed.

it takes time for it to filter down the supply chain to the consumer as businesses wait and see if it is temporary, then price lists have to be updated etc etc. it takes 4-6 months to go from primary supplier, converter, manufacturer, wholesaler, retailer, and then to the consumer.

people are dreaming if they think the oil price is not inflationary.. its just not showing up yet in the cpi.
