I asked this a few weeks ago but the response to the question wasn't pleasant...
However from what I could gather doing a bit of research and a few people trying to fill in the gaps, Primero were contracted to do early stage work which involved choosing a location, and design based on the technogy of AVL's U.S. partner. I believe EPA documents have been submitted for the site in Kwinana (I think that is how it's spelled), but apart from that there has really been zero news since. Primero don't mention it on their webite, so it may indicate the contract has concluded? When AVL were awarded the $49mil grant, a few news articles wrote that the electrolyte plant was currently 'under construction', but I think that was just plain incorrect information. (unfortunate, as some people use this information to judge a potential investment) One of the good posters here, Timee mentioned he is familiar with the site and currently there are grain silo's on site but nothing more.
It's unfortunate as it is starting to feel like if we want a vrfb market in Australia, it will take a lot of pushing from the likes of AVL and other parties invested in Vanadium, and the electrolyte plant would be another step forward to making this a technology to be taken seriously in Australia.
As mentioned, Vince is doing more than anyone to get vrfb's into the energy storage conversation, and i'm sure in due course we'll hear more about the plant.
Vince is juggling a lot of balls and probably the mine, FID, finance, offtake etc are the main priority and taking most of the resources, and electrolyte plant maybe on the backburner?
If anyone knows more from talking to Vince, please chime in.
