As one who has smoked on and off all my life, I am perplexed that smoking is regarded as purely a physical addiction.

I can go cold turkey everytime and have for years at a time but it is the mental side that is hard to handle.

Smoking allows me to be passive and pleasant to be around.

When I am not smoking and this applies to my childhood as well, I am aggressive and there have been times maybe even dangerous.

That may not apply to all smokers but seems to something not even considered.

Not putting myself in the following category but why is it that schizo's all chain smoke? Could it be self medication!

All those anti smoking also ought to think about being anti alchohol. Alchohol causes far more social damage than smoking ever will.

By the way, it was suggested kissing a smoker might be repulsive, what about the same for a drunk!
