i just have one question to the non smokers and gov?

what happens if everyone stops smoking?

this is a back of an envelope estimate

Average packet of cigarettes $10 - 13


grower makes - 20c

tabacco company 1.00

retail story- Depends on there park up - My fav supplier 11.00 (cheap) 7-11 $14.95 ( what they sell it for) - they take

So lets use the price $11.00 a packet

Can't find the rate for tax ( google not working correctly) but lets guess about $5-6 a packet tax

most smoker smoke a packet a day - lets say

$5 tax on the packet


if they know 5 other smokers it would be $25 a day tax

lets say we have 50 000 smoker all giving the gov $5 a day
every day of the year
this would mean the following is taxes

$250 000 a day taxes
$750 000 a month Taxes
$90,000,000 a year in taxes

The gov can't afford people to quit smoking...
