    >but this doesn't imply that EVs aren't up to the task
    Yes, it does

    > the recharging stations are well placed
$$$ who pays to install, who pays to maintain infrastructure.

Also -how annoyed would you personally be if you got "overcharged" due to transmission issues?
Eg - the charging circuit has slightly higher resistance, which means it takes more power to charge your battery...
At least with fuel, being a physical thing, you can verify your 5 litres of fuel is actually 5 litres of fuel.

    >and charging times are reduced.
So pie in the sky still.

    >these are the two only points you have against EVs
Well, no. The scarcity of the materials, the likelihood that a non-zero percentage of those toxic materials end up in the environment,
That we don't know the real risks when EV's are not well maintained,
There's heaps of issues, and fanboying about "new tech" isn't scientific.

EV's have cool factor and it's a cool idea, it doesn't imply that they're up to the task

    > more importantly are alternative technologies such as hydrogen.
So EV's are admittedly not the answer, but you're still for them on the way to other technologies? Er?
