We're nowhere near any fundamental limits for lithium batteries yet - your typical EV has 100g or less Li in it. That can be improved, and energy density along with it.
Who says I like Elon or Tesla? They are going to get smoked by real car manufacturers moving to EV.
A 10 time improvement in battery like you suggest would give EV's with 4000 km range, not many need anywhere near that kind of capability.
Kill codes for stopping cars for the police can just as easily be installed in ICE as EV, absolutely no difference between the two for that particular theory of yours.
I agree something needs to be done about rego once EV's aren't paying revenue via the petrol tax.
