It is very interesting that a post appears on this subject today. I sent Solbec an email yesterday with various questions about their project timeline and whether they would get phase 2 done by the option expiry date (September 2006).

This is a summary of their reply:
* Phase 1 and 2 are on the critical path to commercialisation
* Tasks are being run in parallel to chase progress
* Analysis of phase 1 results is already underway although the trial is still running
* Phase II protocol design is also underway
* They have been working on IND application for some months
* They "will be disappointed not to reach our key milestones sooner"

The following is a direct quote on the subject of partnering...

"There is one other thing you might want to consider in your analysis. As you will be aware, there is a trend in favour of earlier stage licensing deals among pharma companies. A deal is therefore possible within the time frame of your analysis [up to September 2006] and would probably be well received by the market."
