In a strong market, this strategy can work, but in my opinion in a weak market its a dangerous strategy.
Waiting for the stock to go ex dividend before selling often results in not only the stock dropping on ex-dividend day (thereby wiping out the benefit of the dividend) but also enables shorters to have a clear run (as the dividend is now ex, so shorters can short without having to pay the dividend).
Anyway good luck, for myself I am comfortably on the sidelines watching.
