G'day stonepony. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look at it closely.

Re my reasons..well, I'm almost ashamed to admit it as the subject has been placed into such disrepute but I've recently been catching up on developments in cold fusion.

It's now more than 10 years since Pons and Fleishmann did their controversial experiments using Pd electrodes that ended up being called "pathological science". As someone who has made his career in science I find the sociology of what happened quite fascinating.

As it turns out, it seems that much of what P and F reported can actually be substantiated and has been in many labs and reported in refereed scientific journals. There are still plenty of problems however, particularly with reproducibility but the effect does seem to be there.

Plenty still disbelieve, especially physicists who are the major detractors (it's essentially the province of electrochemists) but my feeling is that we may soon see a resurgence of interest in the whole phenomenon.

If you are interested take a look at (for example)

Re AnnaP. She lived in more carefree times I'm afraid. Would that she could return...
    Cheers,
