choo12 - The reason the Company is paying the contractors in Gold is because its about risk mitigation imo! It's one way to draw the small contractor to the job and a bit of a carrot to do the job properly & quickly.
Also, at this stage the Company, is aggressively looking to convert resources to reserves and when they're ready to announce a 10 year mine life they won't be dealing with smaller contractors.
In this context, it's cheaper & easier to pay in Gold rather than to raise cash.
Just my 2 cents worth anyways!
