GoGlenroy,
The main reason building 7 fell was due to the unattended fires burning on several floors, along with the structural damage caused by the fall of the north tower.
The sprinkler system in WTC7 was barely operating due to a lack of water pressure. This was particularly evident on floors 7 to 9 and 11 to 13, where the fires burned unattended.
In the afternoon, a bulge was noticed by firefighters between the 10th and 13th floors, with creaking sounds coming from the building. Firefighters were withdrawn from the building due to fears that the building may collpase.
The fatal blow to the building came when the 13th floor collapsed, weakening a critical steel support column that led to catastrophic failure, and extreme heat caused some steel beams to lose strength, causing further failures throughout the buildings until the entire structure succumbed.
The collapse of WTC2 caused a 24 story gash into the facade of the Deutsche Bank Building and destroyed the entire interior of the structure. The building was also structurally differant to that of WTC7. Whilst it did not fall, it was damaged sufficiently to be irrepairable. The sad thing about this building is the amount of human remains that were found there, some, years after 9/11.
I still fail to see a genuine conspiracy plot in the data available regarding the fall of the towers and surrounding buildings.
There was no automated method for the civilian air traffic controllers to alert NORAD. An airliner had not been hi-jacked in the US since 1979.
The 9/11 Commission determined that on the morning of September 11, the FAA did not notify NORAD of the hijackings of Flights 11, 175, 77 or 93 in time for escort aircraft to reach the hijacked flights.
The other problem was the fact that the terroists turned off the transponders. There was no way to track the aircraft.
With thousands of blips on a screen, how could the millitary know what they were looking for? The airlines hardly knew who was hi-jacked, and who wasn't.
The attacks on 9/11 were un-precedented. No body knew what to expect, and Al Qaeda certainly succeeded in the element of surprise. I honestly believe that this element of surprise is what caused a lot of the mistakes to be made, and therefore, it has been a lot easier for conspiracy theories to be brought into the mix.
Look at the expression on George Bush's face when he was told at that school reading that there had been a crash into the WTC. It was definately one of honest shock.
In order for this to be a conspiracy, how many people would have to be in on it? From the air traffic controllers, to the NORAD officers, the firefighters, policemen, buidling security guards, government officials, potential witnesses, explosive experts. No, i honestly cannot agree that this was a conspiracy.
