I would suggest on HC the majority of people who are left wing are atheists. In the real world I don't know too many left leaning people, but I do know a few that are religious and lean to the left but equally I have met people who are quite right wing and despise religion in all forms.
I think it's too simplistic to label people as left and right, unless they are obviously just one way or the other. It is possible for people to take on board issues and judge them on their merit individually, therefore carrying some views that may be considered left leaning and some right leaning. Sometimes people can even be neutral on an issue and not have an opinion.
Religion is a touchy subject and I get that. I have, however, seen what I thought were intelligent well rounded people join the Christian movement and lose all sense of perspective and reality.
