The broad concept is simple enough.

Imagine1000 marathon runners all gathered in groups of ten. they need to be given n instructions about 10 colour coded stops they have to make on the way.
Previously each group was given ten separate coloured slips of paper, but there was an innovation when they got instead one single page with each of the colours on it.
In other words the instruction time for each packet of runners was dramatically reduced? If these runners are data packets and so in effect electrons with addresses of each turning point on them the process of informing the data flow is greatly speeded up.

I gather this why China Telecom was so pleased with the rewrite with VPP embedded.
The quality of the stream of images voice etc was very high. There were packet drop outs and that is why it is dealing with big companies like the clothing sports company which is currently 30% higher in market cap than BHP
