Did you read the bottom line of the article? IIRC Telstra workers were given some shares and also had the opportunity to buy more at a discount when Telstra was floated.
The biggest critics of Telstra management that I personally know are telecoms technicians, many of whom are contractors to Telstra, so it's no surprise to me that they blame management.
