@picastoc - I agree - that's the worst - those toilet dollies - German women love that sort of stuff, my aunt did - she always endowed me with hand-crocheted this and that and I kept and used them for years, even though some were hideous - but my pious soul wouldn't let me part with something I was given by this lovely lady, my aunt. in fact: my Mum tried her hands at the toilet 'hat' thing (it never happened in my day, she was too busy) and then sent a parcel to Australia - youngest daughter was about 8, 9 years old, decided it was a hat and wore it as such - I probably have a photo somewhere - she got lots of laughs but kept it on, insisting it was a hat and she liked it.
I think I published this photo once before of my then very beloved cat 'Felix' who was a sensitive sou; (if cats can have a soul - ) he is sitting on two (!) of my aunt's crochet cushions - I kept them to their last thread and then they 'gave up the thread' - still have doilies galore somewhere . . .
