Who ever posted that brief c.v. of J. Leslie is quite astute.
I also owned Nikanor when Leslie was there. The merger of Nikanor and Katanga was announced in November 2007. Leslie was supposed to take over the merger of the entity as Art Ditto was 66 at the time and wanted to retire to his horse ranch in arizona. Glencore and RP Explorer (Dan Gertler) looked at the continual misses and cost overruns that Leslie created and told Ditto that he had to stay until a new CEO could be found. Leslie and his gang that was responsible for the delays in de-watering the KOV pit and other cost overruns was show the exit door in December 2007 to be announced in Janaury 2008. Ultimately, Ditto was removed when Steven Isaacs was put in by Glencore.
I do not know about Sappi.
