    @pints....All those poles and wires. Power-poles don't grow on trees y'know. Using all those poles is not good for the environment.

    I propose we use recyclable Power-poles. I propose that they should be mad out of compresses protein material, and vegetable matter. Then when they have served their useful life, we could send them to Africa, where all those starving kids could eat them.

    But seriously. I am appalled that they still use so many wooden poles around the suburbs. As well as the waste of beautiful trees, they require constant maintenance. Here in Qld., the termites will eat them in less than 5 years unless they are treated, and retreatment round their bases every year. Surely Aluminium, Steel, or Concrete, could now be made cheaply enough to do the job.

    Yes. Electrifying our whole transport nutwork will require major changes, and major investment in power distribution.
