>, the versatility of battery powered mobility increases the range of options.... look at e-scooters, bikes and buggies.... the current price range isn't going to last as prices are always high when a new tech is introduced and reduces rapidly after the competition builds.
Consider scale. It was never practical to build a steam powered personal transport, and yet, steam engines were a revolutionary transport technology.
Short range transport, sure, electric vehicles are useful.
For carrying cargo and long journeys, not so much.
>Do you recall the early digital watches?
Oh yes. I would love a Bulova Accutron. What a machine!
Regardless. You cannot compare the two things.
There are physical realities as far as the amount of energy required to accelerate mass.
With watches - they miniaturised circuitry which lowered energy consumption.
You cannot miniaturise 1 tonne of cargo.
I don't believe that it's possible to build batteries which have a similar weight/energy ratios to, eg, petrol fuel.
>surely you don't only read the right wingtipper sites which feed you loads of disinformation?
You keep making this reference that - since I disagree with you, I am somehow filled with "disinformation"
In general, authority figures, including mainstream media sources, are roughly equivalent to the Catholic church circa the 15th century. They don't really want you to read the book and interpret it for yourself; so it's chained to the altar in a language you can't understand.
"Disinformation" is the same word as "heresy".
So I guess, to put things into those terms, you're a good Catholic, I am a Protestant.
Do you believe that an appeal to authority argument is valid? I do not.
If a certain source is considered "disinformation", if it makes rational and justifiable claims, I don't care about the characterisations applied to it.
Everyone has the potential to make a valid analysis.
A good question for you Scott is why you think someone who makes a reasonable inquiry into any topic is "right wing" (second question, why is that "bad", exactly?)?
I'm quite liberal minded. I believe in questioning what an authority might say, as, authorities demonstrably say things to retain their authority.
Why don't you? Aren't you a ratbag?
