it's called a narcissistic wound , it's when someone with narcissistic personality disorder has the grandiose sense of their own talents rejected by having their employment terminated , it enrages them to the point that they must destroy the source of their egos wound , hence the obsessive unrelenting nature of their rage . you often see it where people are rejected eg divorce , termination etc

it comes from an abused childhood , the ego has to defend itself by inventing an alternate reality to survive , a utopian self with imagined self attributes , special unique qualities & personal attributes . I came across a few of them in homicide in the early 80s , it's a spectrum where milder cases live amongst us and more severe cases offend etc

it's the psychological state that fuels this type of vendetta , it defies rationality because it simply isn't rational , where normal folk claim no special abilities these folk feel like they'll be extinguished if their superiority isn't validated
