King Oleg the Viking founded Kiev in 880's afaik. He united the Finish, proto-balts and proto-slavs to take on the Khazars who were giving everyone the s4its. The arguments about slav lineage etc are the subjects of debate and whether the Latvian proto-slavs are actually the same gene pool as the later slavs.
