Does anyone know if the carbon emissions produced by importing bitumen products might be considered in calculating the relative carbon emissions for producing bitumen locally?
I personally don’t believe that QLD Govt would prohibit this venture if it can’t be fully powered by renewable, etc, and or requires offsets. Promoting growth while ensuring moderately sustainable outcomes I think would be the basic mantra of State and Territory Governments. Not necessarily prohibiting great projects in Australia if they are not ‘fully’ sustainable.
