Some politically correct judge will feel sorry for the scumbags and give them something outrageously soft like a stern warning - or an "education program".
Meanwhile the poor Canadian guy will probably have lifetime headaches and possibly brain damage like memory issues. He will not be trusting of the world and will spend much of the rest of his life behind closed doors.
