One last one before I don't reply anymore Offshore wind takes 6 - 10 years to install, well that would depend on the size but even at the low end, 6 years, most (all) of the proposed are not scheduled to start construction by 2030, most wont even have an approval by then, so 2035 closure of Loy Yang will undoubtably result in energy shortages. This is supporting my view that it takes years to develop this capacity, whereas the spin suggests that it will happen overnight, AGL has cancelled their windfarm in Queensland perhaps MCB can resurrect, You are correct on Snowy Hydro as it was constructed to support BASE load power which it was suited for at the time, and is obsolete. I have the question on recharging the pumped hydro, considering the peaky nature of renewable energy (or at least the chosen path, there are other options) and . not just from you, not received any answers that fill me with any confidence that this issue has been addressed. I can see most of these ending up as 1-2 hour load levelers and that's it, days, forget it.
And off course, when something makes money by not producing anything, in fact consumes it, who is paying for it. End users that is who, so yes multi nationals are flocking in to fill their buckets at our expense. Dont confuse normal hydro with pumped hydros either, one is a genuine REG the other is definitely not.
And load shifting, I say again, would be a far better option than the expensive pumped storages.
