Mate, you really are a lot better off ditching internet explorer. I've just switched to Mozilla firefox as my browser, and I couldn't be happier. Stops all the pop ups, very quick, and much more secure than ie. To bring up new windows you just type cntrl + n, and you're away. Has the advantage of being very difficult to break into by hackers/crackers/anyone trying to get into your computer via the internet: something that ie cannot boast. Also, get yourself a good firewall, configure it properly, and you'll be set.

Thus my advice is: ditch internet explorer, go to mozilla firefox.
