That is not entirely true. ASM get their ore from KOMIR (Korean Mine Rehabilitation and Resource Corporation). KOMIR does the importation of rare-earth products into Korea, including for strategic stockpiling. As far as where does KOMIR get their rare-earths from, it's not ASM's problem.
We know that KOMIR is carrying out 18 overseas projects in different stages of development. Any of those could be for rare earths I would think.
They have offices all around the world including China and Russia. But they also have offices in Canada, Chile, Kazakhstan, South Africa, Indonesia, Peru, Hong Kong.
So again, ASM does not import any raw materials. KOMIR does that.
I think the goal of all this is to establish critical mineral chains outside unfriendly countries like China.
