Activity Update—McCormack Road goes into Production
Orchard Petroleum Limited (ASX; OPL) (Orchard) and Orchard Petroleum Inc. (OP Inc), a
wholly owned subsidiary of Orchard, are pleased to provide an activity update on current ongoing
projects in California.
Summary
· Forbes Gas Program— Larner 1-12 Encounter Gas (Please see 6/9/04 Release).
· McCormack Road—Gas production has commenced at the 2-15 well.
· Southeast Lost Hills—Jack Hamar 1-1 site preparations underway with an expected
spud date the week of 13 September.
· San Emidio—Well permitting underway with planned drilling at the end of 2004.
· Sledge Hamar—New testing program utilising technologies to enhance production for
both Sledge Hamar 1-7 and 2-7 wells is currently under review along with the next phase
of the drilling program.
Forbes Gas Program
Please see 6/9/04 media release announcing gas discovery at Larner 1-12.
OP Inc has a 50% participating interest in the Forbes Gas Program and Matris Exploration Inc
(Matris) has a 50% interest.
McCormack Road
Initial gas production has begun at the 2-15 well. Initial flow rates have been set at a daily level
of approximately 500,000 cubic feet per day as we monitor pressures and well performance. The
2-15 well is producing 1070 btu gas at both stable casing and tubing pressures.
An investigation into acquiring 3-D seismic over the leased and adjoining area is underway. A
lease check of additional acreage is also being discussed.
OP Inc. has a 37.5% participating interest (50% revenue interest) in the 1-15 well with
Nahabedian Exploration Group (NEG) and Matris each having a 25% revenue interest.
Southeast Lost Hills
Site preparations are under way for Jack Hamar 1-1. A contracted rig is expected to move on site
late this week or early next week for an expected spud date during the week of 13 September.

OP Inc has a 25% carried interest in Jack Hamar while Nuenco LLC, a subsidiary of Anzoil NL
(recently renamed Nuenco NL), has the right to earn a 25% interest. NEG and Matris each have
a 25% interest covered under an NEG—Matris farm- in agreement between the parties.
San Emidio
Further technical analysis of the prospect is ongoing while permitting the first well is underway.
Drilling is planned for the end of 2004.
OP Inc has a 25% carried interest and Nuenco LLC has a right to earn a 25% interest. Matris
holds the remaining 50%.
Sledge Hamar
A further testing program for the Sledge Hamar 1-7 and 2-7 wells is currently under review by
the partners along with the next phase of the drilling program for the prospect. Technologies that
enhance recovery and reduce operating costs are being considered.
OP Inc has a 10% interest in the Sledge Hamar prospect, NEG a 50% interest and Iva nhoe
Energy has a 40% interest.
