His boss had a slightly different take, in that she couldn't think of any work that they needed to do. The decision of two people in their early 20's, to both of their own volition, at the same time, to decide to return to the office at 1AM on a Saturday morning, after 7 hours of drinking, does seem a highly unusual one.

of course their boss has advised they had no work that needed to be done at that time, it reduces the employers exposure to liability for the situation if they state they shouldn't have been there and it wasn't a workplace related incident
