If they were buying there is would be the possibility that they did have some strategic purpose such as a T-O. After all they did buy 25% of Lonmin and I assume this was on-market. I do believe (but stand to be corrected) that some of this purchase was before the T-O offer was made. Alternatively they could buy on-market so that when the JV is done they hold more than 50%.
domum, I don't agree that buying shares on-market would be a threat to Genorah or the South African public. I am talking about on-line purchases without any approach to Genorah or other top shareholders.
There may be a clause which prevents XS buying on-line. I might ask PL about this point.
