    I don't see how STO can make their FID without having the gas reserves in place to supply multiple trains.

    Imagine if they give the project the go ahead and intend to rely on 'portfolio gas' and a competitor comes in and takes out the companies whose reserves they are relying on (ESG,MEL; whoever). Shareholders would hardly be happy with a second or third train costing billions sitting idly by due to a lack of gas. Big gas companies like certainty (which is why Australia is so attractive) so if the project is to go ahead the reserves are going to have to be acquired prior to that decision IMO.
