Stocks go up and down all the time. Mum and dad investors often lose by buying high and selling low. I hope you're not suggesting we should sell now?

Excuse for a decline or the reason for a decline? I'm not thinking about excuses, I thinking about why the sp might be down. Without thinking about that and the evolving fundamentals, how do we decide whether to sell, hold or buy a stock?
