Esra, the top twenty is published as public information but to gain access to the register you have to be a holder and then there is a check on who is looking. In the past when I sought a download of a register, as a holder, the provider sought permission from the company secretary. In the dark days, you could go to the company for a viewing, then you had to rely on notes. There is no right for anybody as such as I understand it, who are not holders to view the register, unless its authorized personnel such as government bodies. Inside information does happen. I was brought up to believe loose lips sink ships. So I put personal disclosure in the category of, at your own peril.
Large holders need time to distribute their shares unless they are investors for long run. By scraping sentiment they have a more realistic target to get out before the crowd if they are trading. Why wouldyou offer an advantage by telling them what you have got and they can anticipate when you may sell based on statistics and behavoral science to take profit or if there are delays by which they can manipulate sentiment. They need to get out on rising demand before they get stuck in a queue of sellers. When climactic action in price takes place, they have maximised profit, while others rely on the charts which are lagging indicators and the price may drop suddenly in tough times and profit is not maximised and particulary when stops are further pressed by other stakeholders. That is the difference between a price maker and a price taker.
Many hold shares under different private entities, so its a little harder to track because they want to remain incognito, but you can see who the directors are and pay govrernment a fee to do so as it is public information. Most would not bother. Some stakeholders like to sit below 5%, where they don't have to declare publically. There are those who track this information where possible and other people do scrape the sentiment for a data base on sites like hot copper.
When I started investing there were no such things as BOTS either. A further issue is that hacking is sophisticated these days, so why make it easier to be robbed. Travel like a tourist os in shady areas, then the risk is heightened because you stand out.
SPQ for me is an investment, not a trade to reduce average cost of a core holding being in so low.
