i suggest you read respected mining analyst rob brierly's report on fmg, having looked at fe grades, etc he has given the company his endorsement

let's face it, you need steel for everything, cars, washing machines, bridges, high rise, apartments, computers, tv's, etc, the chinese are starting to get a taste for the better things in life, and they can afford it now

rio/bhp were clearly caught off guard by the sudden surge in demand

for the chinese government 2 billion is a paltry sum, and they'll probably save more than that in the long run by allowing some competition in the pilbara and therefore not allowing rio/bhp to charge exhorbitant prices
