I do have a lot of agreement with that except it isn't the full story and doesn't factor in time

consider Germany ...huge loser in WW2 ...but over time , gained a rebuild and good governemnt ...longer term winner (not saying it ws worth it )

Ukraine - if their country is destroyed but whole ... I think like Germany
if they lose Donbas - big losers long term
