    Depends on what you mean by “win”. If you mean, “defeat the Russian military in the field on all fronts driving them out of the country”, then no, they cannot win in that way. At least not without years of warfare where the Russians learn nothing.

    If you mean, “fight them to a stalemate until the Russian economy collapses and they leave of their own accord”, I’d say that’s a 50/50 proposition now, and as the days pass the odds improve in Ukraine’s favor.


    However, a more interesting question is “Can Russia hope to win a war against Ukraine?” and here the answer is almost always no. There is no scenario, no recognizable definition of winning, that Russia can walk away with because even if they succeed in overrunning and occupying the entire country, they still lose to insurgents in the long to medium term.
