The actually valid comparison is that between the anticipated flow rates in this well and the known flow rates for the adjoining Akkar North field, where wells flow at 250-500 bopd (see JPR October 2009 Presentation to Fund Managers in Almaty)
The question then is: When were the wells on that adjacent field drilled, and how were they completed?
I would imagine that the adjacent Akkar North wells are modern wells that have been recently drilled for the current production, not historic Soviet-era wells that have been worked over. I don't know this for certain though.
The simple way to fine out is to ring the company and ask, but unfortunately all the technical staff are in the field at present so nobody there can give me the answer.
But my guess would be that J-50 will flow at a comparable rate to the Akkar North wells, provided this local drilling contractor doesn't stuff it up at the last minute.
