I'm not an o&g expert but Scott used a heavy mud weight (he was expecting a monster) so they might not detect / have early signs of any hydrocarbons. In that case it doesn't necessarily mean there's no oil or gas if there were no kicks during drilling. They'll need to wait until the well is logged with wireline tools after the total depth is reached to find out
