In his reply, he actually pasted a reply to my email from an 'expert colleague'. Not sure who.
The colleague waffled on but never really tackled the question. Didn't provide references to specific pre-clinical data or other research papers.
Pointed out that in humans it is proving to be a promising candidate for indications that can lead to sepsis such as UTIs, burns, sinusitis - no disagreement from me.
Also highlighted that their preclinical data for bacteraemia/sepsis had been examined be the FDA who awarded it QIDP status - again, no disagreement here.
But the fact remains that human plasma profile has ended up much different to the pre-clinical animal plasma profiles. And by that I mean much lower. And far lower than all the MICs.
I still have a buy sentiment as I believe 327 looks promising in several indications, and in terms of bacteraemia/sepsis may help prevent cases. But I'm skeptical of it's ability to treat bacteraemia/sepsis in its current formulation.
