I was out surfing a few beaches over from Broadbeach/kurrawa this morning and didn't think the conditions were very bad....for novices yes..but for the elite surf lifesavers it shouldn't have been a problem...it was scrappy but not really huge...
maybe he got hit by his surfski in the surf....fall off and get mixed up in the whitewash is always a worry..
it is a real shame and a sad day for the guys family and friends...
