What you propose is not a silly idea and would not surprise if a scenario along similar lines forms part of Telstra's Plan B, not if, but when the negotiations with the NBN Co fall over.. Any one that says that TLS has to accept the rumoured $8B offer from the NBN Co/Government, independant my eye ball, is dreaming..
We must all remember that before T3, Telstra was very close to a major demerger involving wholesale, retail, Foxtel and Sensis.. If they revisted this proposal, it would eliminate many of the regulatory issues and unlock a lot of the hidden value not currently reflected in the share price..
But, one thing is for sure, TLS' options are many more than what the Government has and, at that point, the Government could not legislate to stop a demerger, as it would mean seperation and that is exactly what Conroy wants..
