The table literally comes from the ABS website, it's fertility by month and you can clearly see a taper in September, October, November and the collapse in December. I can't imagine the December number being accurate at 6k as that would be a collapse in society. Have a look at fertility rates in:
UK
Hungry
Sweden
Germany
I guess the question is, during turbulent times, do people have more or less kids?
BBN is a great retailer, I like the company, it's more the overall trends that is concerting for future "customers".
Here is an old article that was pretty wrong RE: spike in unemployment as that was just temporary, but it does look at what happened during the "great recession" RE: more or less kids.
