Happy to see them out of the UK - it’s a mess. They still retain the licence so can move back again if things change. Canada still keeps overseas expansion going, while not getting themselves over extended against a possibly worsening environment.
would really like that note paid off but they clearly are concerned about capital markets and maybe not being able to do as much securitisation in the future so want to retain the cash.
it all sounds OK, although growth in cards chews up capital and doesn’t deliver any NPAT for a few years. I guess the next big thing to watch will be what the business actually delivers in NPAT in February for H1.
