Ok so lets look at the activities of Azov and what Nazi really means. I believe Azov share part of their ideology with the original Nazi party, but not all and calling them Nazis is misleading and attributes all the Nazi crimes to them.

Nazi roughly translates to national socialist, the party gained support in Germany as the people felt oppressed by the measures against Germany, this is how otherwise good people got sucked into the party. The party rose to power through thuggery and as they gained power they pinned the blame of the German defeat on the minorities, especially the Jews, well we all know the history from that point on.

When you're under attack since 2014 is it wrong to be an "ultra nationalist"? I think the reason why Azov had members who identified as Nazis because they wanted a uniting belief system in the defence of their homeland and out of respect of the German war machine in WW2, calling yourself a Nazi can intimidate your enemies.
I know for a fact that within the Australian Armoured Corps, tank regiment, that during training exercises operators would like to joke around on the radio using German, this again is a sign of respect for how fierce the German war machine was in WW2.

Apart from being ultra nationalist, and calling themselves Nazis to intimidate Russians, is there evidence that they undertook activities like the atrocities of the Nazis? Is there evidence of Azov going around rounding up Jews and other minorities and placing them in concentration camps or are there mass graves where they buried the bodies.
If Azov aren't targeting minorities in the same way the original Nazis did, I think it's overblown to simply taint them as being the same as Nazis and is clearly a tactic used by Russia and supporters of Russia's invasion.

If we look at outcomes and justifications used by Russia, they are behaving more like the Nazis than Azov. Claiming that Ukraine isn't a real state with a made up identity that is actually just part of Russia is an example of how they see themselves as being superior to the Ukrainians, saying that the "special operati
on" was necessary to liberate Russians within Ukraine is exactly what Hitler did when invading Czechoslovakia. Now there is well documented evidence of mass graves dug by the Russians and transport of Ukrainians deep into Russia.

Anyone who flippantly calls Ukrainians or Azov Nazis is just a Russian sympathiser in my opinion.
