Haha. for interest I looked up the TAFE Commercial Diesel Engineering courses. It's 3 years as an apprentice while taking the course, which has 22 core units and 53 specialty units (probably only need to do a few of those).

I suppose you might get a job on a tug as an apprentice - if you are very lucky - and be cleaning the grease and oil off the motors for 3 years

So the AFR needs to check before claiming it's a 5-month course...
