Interesting article from 2015 (modified in 2020) re Four Study Stages. I like the conclusion but equally, I like Ken Kuching's response to a poster comment...have a read.
Oh and if that 'red flag' poster wants to have a read, he can too and I'm sure he'll find a response that suits his narrative (which of course will not be as informative or educated as the author of this article...who happens to be a professional in the Mineral Industry).
