Yes Nev, they will not have the raw materials to keep up with supply. Unfortunately, their ICE vehicle sales will continue to fall off a cliff putting them between a rock and a hard place. Falling sales and being unable to increase EV sales enough due to their short sightedness.

I, like many, won’t purchase another ICE vehicle. Currently I have a newish Prado and a C200 Merc for town. The Merc is 10 years old. We would normally have changed over this vehicle. That won’t happen now until we are satisfied that Australia has enough supply and choice of EV’s.

The Prado tows well so I will be using that for at least another 5 years. I was going to upgrade to a LC but have now ruled that out. Toyota, I refuse to wait 12 months and pay 122k for technology that is on it’s way out. EV SUV’s and utes don’t have the range yet. I don’t travel more than 300km per day when touring with the van but that is a high workload for the long range battery of the Rivian etc.

I suspect that my current caravan rig will stay for years. I’m considering holding off until an EV RV is available.

Many others like myself, are holding off on purchases so I think that is an ominous signal for OEM’s.
