Dust. Sorry to prick your baloon, but I have known a number of teachers who were:
- unhappy with their chosen profession but were unwilling to leave because of the substantive benefits they received;
- lazy, with the principal unwilling to take the appropriate stand, which had a flow on effect on the rest of the staff;
And women who were particularly attracted to the teaching profession because of the wide range of holiday breaks, especially when they attained motherhood (just ask any non- teaching mother).
And I will resist in mentioning the teacher who insisted on ringing me at home three hours BEFORE I left work and the same number of hours AFTER he had left school.
